Utilities
Water, wastewater and power distribution. Long-lived assets, strict regulation and a cyber security obligation that grows every year.
Utilities run the longest-lived control systems we see, some over 25 years old, serving the public under regulation that varies by country. Our utilities teams are organised by country for that reason and hold the local certifications.
What utilities come to us for
- Telemetry and SCADA modernisation for networks of remote sites, with migration plans that keep the old and new systems running side by side.
- Energy management for pumping and treatment, usually the largest controllable cost a water utility has. Lagos Water cut reported scope 2 emissions by 18 percent in a year.
- OT cyber security to meet national regulation and the NIS2 directive in the EU: asset discovery, segmentation, vendor access control and monitoring. See OT cyber security.
- Lifecycle services with critical-level response for treatment works and distribution control centres.
Regulation
| Region | What we hold |
|---|---|
| European Union | NIS2 readiness assessments, IEC 62443 certified engineers |
| United Kingdom | NIS Regulations and CAF assessment experience |
| India | CEA cyber security regulations for power utilities |
| Latin America | Country-specific utility certifications through the Monterrey centre |
Working in public
Utilities answer to regulators and to the public. Our documentation and reporting are written to be read by both, and our incident response plans are built to be exercised with the utility's own emergency planning.
